Milwaukee has launched a 190mm rear-handle circular saw on M18 FUEL with ONE-KEY, and the feature worth leading on is not the motor. AUTOSTOP is a kickback system that, Milwaukee says, uses machine learning to recognise a bind-up and stop the blade before it comes out of the material — a safety claim of a different order from the guards and clutches this class of saw normally ships with.

On the cutting, Milwaukee quotes 6,000 RPM from its POWERSTATE brushless motor and a 69mm maximum depth of cut, which it says is enough to take several stacked sheets in one pass when run on an M18 FORGE 12.0Ah battery. It puts the saw at 5.2kg with an M18 FB12 pack, and claims up to 700 cuts per charge on the FORGE 12.0.

Rear-handle saws are bought for ripping and framing rather than for finish work, and the weight figure matters as much as the speed: 5.2kg is what a user carries up a ladder, and Milwaukee makes the fatigue argument explicitly. REDLINK PLUS handles protection against overload, overheating and over-discharge.

The saw also carries VACLINK, which triggers a connected Milwaukee vacuum as the tool starts, and ONE-KEY, the company's tracking platform — last-seen location, utilisation, service intervals and inventory across crews, through a free app on mobile or desktop.

Availability

No price and no on-sale date were given. The release came from Milwaukee's European arm on 31 July, in metric throughout, and directs readers to milwaukeetool.eu to find a stockist.

Where it sits

Milwaukee calls this the most powerful and fastest saw in its class, a comparative claim against unnamed competitors that we have not tested — and the same goes for the 700-cut figure, which depends on the material as much as the battery.
