Milwaukee has launched an M12 sewer inspection camera built into its PACKOUT storage system, aimed at facilities maintenance teams who currently call in a contractor for drain inspections. It is a 4.8kg all-in-one with the battery fitted, on a platform Milwaukee says now runs to more than 125 tools in Europe.

The specification is the part that decides what it can survey: a 23m camera cable at 5.5mm diameter, an 18.5mm head with pivoting zoom, a 7in display, and a stated drain capacity of 32–100mm. That range covers household and light commercial waste lines rather than mains sewers, which places the tool squarely in the facilities bracket its release is aimed at.

The design argument is about transport and mess. Because it top-stacks with PACKOUT, the camera travels in the same stack as everything else rather than as a separate case, and the drum is enclosed so the waste pulled back off the line stays contained — the reason drain inspection is normally kept away from finished spaces.

Milwaukee's case for buying rather than subcontracting is that a crew can see a blockage in real time instead of clearing blind, and resolve it in the same visit. That is a plausible argument for a building with recurring drainage problems and a weak one for a building without.

Availability

No price and no on-sale date were given, which for a tool sold against the cost of hiring a specialist is the missing number that matters most. The release was issued by Milwaukee's European arm on 31 July.
