Who is this for?

If you're building a DeWalt ecosystem or just want a capable 20V brushless drill without breaking the bank, the DCD800B lands squarely in the sweet spot. It beats every comparison at this price point.

More torque per dollar than anything Milwaukee or Makita offers at this price.

Performance

The brushless motor delivers up to 797 in-lb of max torque — competitive with drills that cost $40 more. We drove 3-inch screws into hardwood without breaking a sweat. The two-speed gearbox covers both precision work (0–650 rpm) and high-torque fastening (0–2,000 rpm).

Ergonomics

At 2.82 lb without battery the DCD800B is notably light for a full-torque brushless drill. The grip angle is comfortable for overhead work. The one miss: no built-in belt hook, which you get on the Milwaukee M18 Fuel at a similar price.

Verdict

Unless you're already deep in the Milwaukee or Makita ecosystem, the DCD800B is the drill to buy in 2025. It's faster, lighter, and cheaper than most of its rivals.
